Rethinking the Way We Eat and Live
Thursday, June 3, 2010 by Dr. Dennis Paul Knicely, Editor-in-Chief of HealingNews.com
(HealingNews) For too long humans have taken life for granted without realizing how we affect everything else. All life is Sacred, period.
When we eat other creatures we become them, or they become us. How was that animal treated? How did it die? What disease is latent in that food, later affecting or infecting us? What made us the way we are?
According to the author of the latest United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) report, biomass and crops for animals are as damaging as [burning] fossil fuels. It is time for our society to rethink the way they eat and live.
Factory farms have simply taken inhumane treatment of animals to a dangerous, polluting and unhealthy level. This practice contaminates water sources, land and our own bodies. These animals are sick from being raised this way, and eating them affects us all in adverse ways many are either unaware of, or refuse to acknowledge.
Companies manufacturing poisons like Monsanto have $billions at their disposal, and profit is put ahead of health when manufacturing dangerous chemicals as well as genetically modified [GMO] seeds. Poison is fused to DNA of GMO seeds so they can withstand the effects of other dangerous poisons, like Roundup. If soil is teaming with life before growing foods like this, simply imagine what it is like after years of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, etc. are relentlessly used. Think what this does to runoff from rain, and how it affects worms, insects and birds eating them from years of abuse.
Even poisons set out for rats and other creatures have impact. One time we witnessed a beautiful Hawk simply fall out of the sky dead, after eating a poisoned rat. Birds often perish in and around fields after heavy pesticide spraying and later eating infected bugs. Worms that help keep soil healthy die when subjected to these poisons.
CNN recently released a report claiming fruits and vegetables dubbed the "Dirty Dozen," contain 47 to 67 pesticides per serving and that you can reduce your exposure to pesticides up to 80 percent by buying the organic versions of these foods.
Challenges related to consumption of contaminated animal products and produce is seriously threatening our lives. It also affects those of future generations, unless we change, and this cannot wait. Now is the time for changes we really need, and it’s best not to wait another day. Your life, as well as those of others depends on it.
One of the biggest challenges with conventional medical procedure learned through most large University systems is lack of understanding how nutrition really affects us. Just because food has nutritional value does not always mean it is healthy. Very little is taught to conventional AMA approved MDs about nutrition, and hardly ever is it explained why pharmaceutical drug prescriptions are mandated when natural, organic foods and herbs often work much better to heal our bodies.
Why is this all happening? Greed, plain and simple, results when corporate profit is put ahead of reason and total understanding. This can cause actions to affect all of creation. What we do right now can lead to health or death, plain and simple. All actions have consequences.
Now let’s look at the environment, and what has recently happened in the Gulf of Mexico with the BP oil spill. Could this have been avoided? Yes. Yet look at the reasons behind this event, and how it has been handled. Once again you see how a consciousness of “drill baby drill” and “more, more, more” led to Government lobbying efforts. This caused environmental safeguards to be avoided, while corporate profits got the upper hand.
It is time for all of us to vote specifically for those shown to support green clean energy resources, organic mandates, non GMO [genetically modified] foods, and health care programs that will fund holistic and natural remedies known to work better than the invasive, expensive conventional approach. How can we do this?
Call your Congress, Senate and White House members, explaining how you feel. Only vote for them when they support what will help us survive as a human race. We cannot afford to go on the way things are. Just do it. You will make a difference, especially when more people join an effort to make this a sane, safe, and peaceful Planet where all can live in harmony while respecting all life.
About the author: Dennis Paul Knicely, Editor-in-Chief of HealingNews.com has a long term goal of changing the way we live and think, so we can overcome struggles and health issues that affect us. We all have relatives and friends that have become sick or diseased at times, yet many are not aware why they became this way. Supporting our cause, by joining this effort of correct information and education will change our society to a more humane and sustainable way to be. Please tell your friends about us, and always feel free to share your ideas how we can make this a more sane, conscientious society.

Monsanto and the Roundup Ready Controversy / Their "Roundup Ready" crops have been genetically engineered to permit direct, "over the top" application of the Monsanto herbicide glyphosate allowing farmers to drench both their crops and crop land with the herbicide so as to be able to kill nearby weeds (and any other green thing the herbicide touches) without killing the crops Read more...
